So here we are, in 30 days I hopefully will be about to arrive on the continent of Africa for the first time. It is now incredible it is only around the corner now having applied for this opportunity six months ago. People keep asking me are you ready? Are you prepared? Quite honestly in terms material things I am no where near prepared (I.e I have not bought a single thing for the trip yet). Mentally I am probably prepared as I can be but trying to mentally prepare to enter a culture I know very little about is obviously quite difficult. My Swahili does still only stretch as far as the Lion King! So quite honestly I am feeling every emotion under the sun, all I know is I can't wait.
This has been a long time coming in early September I handed my notice into my full time job in London, in October I moved home and started a temporary job. In a week I finish this job. In this time I have moved house twice, had many a leaving party and had my arm used as a pin cushion by some suspect pharmacist in Wednesbury. I have also raised a staggering £1100. One of the concrete things I have drawn from these last six months is that I am surrounded by amazing people. Everyone I have mentioned this opportunity to has reacted so positively, it has been really uplifting. Yes maybe I am taking a risk by quitting my full time job, but I am off on a once in a life time opportunity.
Next time you here from me in here will probably be as I sample Africa for the first time. (Depending on Wifi). Till then, goodbye.
